Frequently Asked Questions

I turned on my A/C or Heat, but nothing is happening

Check your thermostat for the correct settings, check your breakers, check that your thermostat has batteries. If all those things check out, then give us a call.

My thermostat is blank

Replace batteries and check breakers. If that doesn’t work, give us a call.

My system is frozen

Whether its indoors or outdoors, let it thaw for 24 hours and then change your filters. This could simply be an airflow issue. But, if it persists, give us a call to come check it out.

There is water on the floor around my inside unit

Check your drain trap and condensate pump to see if they need to be cleaned or unclogged. See video for cleaning your condensate pump here:

Maintenance

How often should I change my filters?

Check every 30 days. If they are dirty, change them out. We recommend changing them at least once every 60 days.

Which way should I put my filter in?

The arrows on the side of the filter should point toward the inside of the wall or toward the furnace.

Maintenance Plans?

Yes! We have several different options as part of our Comfort Club Membership, or you can opt to do a one-time maintenance. You can check out our options here.

How often should you have maintenance done on my system?

We recommend maintenance twice a year for Spring and Fall.

Why is having maintenance done twice a year a good idea?

Keeping your system clean and up to standard helps extend the life of the unit and keep your efficiency at peak performance. It saves you money in the long run by avoiding repairs.

Mowing and weeds

remove grass and weeds from the exterior of your outdoor unit to keep it from sucking in debris and allow air flow to the unit. Also, keep a path accessible for your favorite Shenandoah Air Service Technicians to get to your units!

New or replacement units

Can duct work go under a trailer?

Most of the time, yes. If a person can fit under there, then it can likely be done. We can send a Comfort Consultant to your home for a free quote and to confirm if duct work is a possibility. If it isn’t, we do have other options for heating and cooling that can be discussed with you at your appointment.

What type of system is best for you?

It really depends on house design, duct work, if any, personal needs, etc. The internet isn’t always right, so let one of our Comfort Consultants visit your for a free quote or to answer questions on what is best for you, your home and your budget.

What if my house doesn’t have duct work, can I still install a heat pump?

Absolutely!! We have our own duct design team, but if that doesn’t work for you, then we also have options for ductless units as well. Minisplits are a great option for homes that do not already have duct work.
